I am sorry I was unable to attend last night’s Executive Meeting due to personal circumstances.

The main outcome of the meeting was that our cricket section has been reinstated. We look forward to a summer of great sport and full use of the field. The last day of our football season is this coming Sunday and we then allow the groundsmen just under two weeks to have everything renovated and in readiness for the cricket season at the start of May. Thank you for paying for this and likewise the Football Foundation.

We take it as read that the two sections who voted for the reinstatement, tennis and hockey, consulted with their committees and their membership. If there remains a shortfall in a carefully costed cricket rent, then we have no real choice but to levy any deficit to those two sections. We don’t have a magic money tree. We have section (sports) rent and use of the Clubhouse. That's it.

We also take it as read that Dr Safeer Butt (Chair of Cricket) ends his legal threats against the Sports Club and you as members.

Maybe this can work. We wish our cricket section a great season, paying their way.
