All,
I Hope you are all keeping well.
I am glad to say – after many months off the squash courts – we are finally about to re-open our doors and allow folks to hit once again.
Cheam Squash Club will re-open from Saturday 25th July 10:00
Please note that it is a phased return to playing squash and I ask that you read the rules outlined below and adhere to them.
As the government and England squash announce new guidelines on social distancing we will reflect changes within the club rules outlined below along with the style of squash that we can play.
At this initial phase of return to the courts, the normal game of squash CANNOT be played by members from different households.
England Squash have released a game called SIDES and the details can be found at the following link:
https://www.englandsquash.com/backtosquash
Of course, you can also solo practice on court if you wish to do so.
As we progress through the phased return to court, we will also release details of games / drills that can be played on court that adhere to social distancing. A thanks to Neal Brooker in assisting with building these routines and gameplay (A link to a YouTube channel will be released in due course demonstrating these games).
Please do follow the rules outlined and take note of the phased return process. When subsequent guidelines & updates are released by the government & England Squash, we will amend the rules to take these into account.
If we find people are not adhering to the rules – we will have no option but to either (a) suspend members found to be disobeying the rules or (b) close the club’s doors – so please do the right thing!
The booking system is now available to book courts from the 25th July. We will be blocking out the morning courts from start of day to circa 09:30 to allow for daily cleaning of the courts – this has to be in place to adhere to government & England Squash guidelines. We will also review this on a regular basis.
Finally, can I ask that any wipes / towels / sanitary products / empty refreshment bottles that you bring to the club are also removed as you leave the club allowing adherence to the rules outlined below. Again, failure to adhere to this will result in us having to close the club’s doors – nobody wants that!
Neal or myself will be around the building on Saturday 25th July to answer any questions you may have (obviously socially distanced and outside the premises).
Lastly, thanks to the committee and volunteers in getting the club ready for return to squash – it is much appreciated!
I look forwards to seeing you down the squash club!
Stuart.
